For railway employees, this number is between 11-13 days, and there is a demand to increase it to 15 days.
Extension Of Child Care Leave (CCL)
Under the 7th Pay Commission, child care leave benefits have been allowed for women employees. This leave has been provided for the employees to take care of their children. Women employees can take up to two years of child care leave during service. In 2025, the rule was amended to allow the benefit under this facility for a single parent as well. Moreover, in the case of disabled children, this provision is no more limited to minor children.
Use Of Earned Leave
Employees are provided with 30 days of earned leave per year. This leave is granted to employees to meet their personal and family needs. Earned leave can be carried over to the next year allowing employees further flexibility.
Special Leave Provisions
Under the 7th Pay Commission, special leaves are for employees due to special situations, including maternity leave, adoption leave, and medical leave. Maternity leave is for women for up to 180 days, while adoption leave is for up to 135 days.
